Disposition of All Computers
Old computers and printers are pulled-out by the ITSMO for disposal according to the ITSMO policy.
All departmental computers, printers and related hardware items (equipment) that are no longer needed by a department will be returned to Information Technology and Systems Management Office for disposition, with the following exceptions:
Computers, printers, and related hardware items that are returned to ITSMO will be disposed of in the following ways:
Reuse on campus. As ITSMO resources allow, equipment that is appropriate for continued use on campus will be made available to other departments.
Equipment that is not made available to other departments on campus will be transferred to Physical Plant Facilities for proper disposal.
Donate. Equipment not reused on campus or those that are already considered obsolete equipment will be given (depending on the age of the equipment) to a barangay as part of DLSAU’s outreach program or made available to non-profit agencies and non-profit institutions based on a written request from the agency or institution. Each computer will come with an appropriate operating system. No application software will be included. No manuals or instructions are included for the computer or for the operating system. ITSMO does not guarantee compatibility or availability of printers for these computers. No other warranty or guarantee applies. Since this is a donation, no special arrangements or configurations are allowed, and no support or training is provided. No data recovery from hard disk failures and no data transfer will be provided.
Discard. Any equipment that is not disposed of by one of the above methods will be appropriately discarded. Government regulations require that disposal of computer equipment following specific guidelines. To ensure our compliance with these guidelines, all disposals must be coordinated through PPF.
Computers that are donated as specified above will not receive any type of hardware or software support. ITSMO may provide hardware and software support on a paid basis for these computers. They should pay the necessary cost to the university cashier upon the recommendation of the ITSMO staff/personnel.
