Rules and Regulations for Students
Student Decorum
The Library is a place for study and research, hence it is expected that students should observe proper
decorum in a manner that will not disturb the peace, quiet, and order of the Library. Smoking, eating,
drinking, loitering and the like are not permitted. Loud conversations and use of cell phones are
prohibited.
Note: Cell phones should be in an off mode or silent mode while the student is
inside the library.
Borrowing and Returning of Books
- A library card which is valid for the current semester should be present upon entry to the library.
- A student is allowed to borrow any library materials upon presentation of his/her library card to the
person-in-charge.
- Students may borrow a maximum of four (4) books at a time for photocopy and;
two (2)books for overnight use. Such books may be renewed if not in demand.
- Books in the Circulation, Veterinary Medicine & Animal Science sections may be borrowed for overnight
use from four o’clock in the afternoon and must be returned not later than nine o’clock in the morning of
the following day.
- Books shall be returned in the same conditions as when they were borrowed. Otherwise, the Student will
be required to pay for the said book/s borrowed.
- The library card shall be returned to the student upon acceptance of the returned book/s.
- Books in the Reference, Filipiniana and Periodicals Sections, theses and dissertations and special
collections are for Library use only.
- Loan period for home use ends one (1) week before the final examinations.
Fines and Lost Books
- A fine will be imposed for overdue books:
- One Peso (P1.00) an hour issued by the
HOUR.
- Five Pesos (P 5.00) per book per day for books loaned for overnight use.
- Lost books should be replaced by the same or latest edition of the book and the corresponding fine must be paid. If the book is irreplaceable, 150% of the current market price of the book must be paid by the
borrower, the additional 50% to cover acquisition and processing cost.
- Lost library card must be reported immediately to the Librarian. Otherwise, the owner will be
responsible for any library materials borrowed on his/her lost library card.
- Lost Library card may be replaced after one week from the time the loss was reported. A
fine of (P 40.00) will be imposed on borrowers applying for a duplicate, to
replace a lost card.
- All payments shall be made at the Cashier’s Office. Receipts evidencing payment shall
be presented to the library for record purposes.
- Lost or replaced library card, when found is no longer valid. This must be surrendered
to the Main Library where it was secured.
- No delinquent borrower shall be allowed to use the Library and its facilities unless
he/she settled all accounts due to the library evidenced by receipts of payments.
Photocopying
Photocopying of articles and excerpts from books may be allowed for personal use. Only abstracts of theses
and dissertations are allowed for photocopy.
